22 November 2019 Climate Expert Online Training of Trainers

A Training of Trainers on using the Climate Expert tool (www.climate-expert.org) was held in November 2019 in Dushanbe. The Climate Expert is a practical 4-step approach and working materials that help companies analyze climate change risks and opportunities and generate strong adaptation strategies. This tool was developed by GIZ in collaboration with the Consulting Company Adelphi.

The Training for Trainers was conducted online and gathered ten participants – staff of GIZ, partners from the cooperative Sarob, the Mountain Societies Development Support Programme (MSDSP), the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED) and the Tajik-Norwegian centre on sustainable development.

Now, thanks to the training, participants are able to work together with small scale farmer cooperatives or work out adaptation opportunities for them, especially in the food processing sector. During the training, the Climate Expert Tool was examined using the example of the ‘Mountain Cheese Company’. Also, participants applied and tested the tool for a cotton processing company in northern Tajikistan.

The participants decided to form an expert network to exchange experience and further support each other.
