19 December 2019. Results of a competitive online exhibition of drawings among schoolchildren in Kyrgyzstan

An umbrella that protects the city from smog, collecting garbage in the forest, planting seedlings, smoking columns of the Heating and Power Station through tree trunks. And also a picture of a beautiful landscape, mysteriously framed by a camera lens, as if warns us: if not to protect the nature, then its beauty can soon be only possible to see in photos. Such important topics were raised by young participants in the online contest.

The contest on the theme “Sustainable and careful use of forest ecosystems of Kyrgyzstan” was held among the middle class students of secondary schools in Bazar-Korgon, Frunze, Balykchy and Jeti-Oguz districts. In total, more than 332 drawings were received, among which the competition commission selected three winners from each district. In addition, ten participants in each district received incentive prizes and certificates. The work of young talents was evaluated by Mr. Aidar Kasymbekov, a member of the Union of Artists of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ms. Suzanna Seideeva, a representative of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Agriculture under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and GIZ employees.

The online exhibition was held as part of the sustainable land management program and the Kyrgyz-German project “Biodiversity Conservation and Poverty Reduction through Community-based Management of Walnut Forests and Pastures”.
